What do you love about WERKING at SPENGA? So many things! First up, the showers. They're incredible. Treat yourself to a Spenga shower. In addition to the showers, I love how accessible it is to all fitness levels via the many exercise options. I also love the community. It's clear that everyone really cares about each other on a personal level which is so important to me!
What made you get involved in fitness or instructing? I had a friend named Anna who was a few years older than me and was a group fitness instructor; we'd always go to group fitness classes together and eventually I started taking her classes too. I really looked up to her for being able to lead, motivate, and command a room so I figured I'd try it too. I learned so much from her and still cherish her friendship today!
Fess up, RIDE, REP, or REVIVE? Which is your fav? REP! I love teaching strength and love that SPENGA does strength on a timer- I think it's fun to challenge myself and others to pick up a heavier weight or get an extra rep in.
What is your favorite format to teach? I'm stuck between RIDE and REP- I love cardio and getting to be more creative with the music in RIDE, but I also think strength training is so important. As a runner, I used to be horrible at strength training until I realized my lack of it was leading to injury and a plateau in my performance. When I started taking it seriously, I found I was running faster and more efficiently, and needless to say I was hooked. I think it's really important to educate people on the importance of variety in a fitness routine- and SPENGA does a great job of this!
Where can we find you when you are not at SPENGA? Walking my dog Wanda, spending time with my husband, reading, running, or working for Cisco!
What is your favorite restaurant in the local market? Branwdweins Bagels- I love a carbohydrate!
What is your fav go to snack/meal after a SPENGA werkout?
Have you seen that Cardi B meme that goes "I'm glad you brung it up because I'm dying to talk about it" ?? that's how I feel about this question. Most underrated spot. Whole Foods. They have Joe van Gogh coffee and so many hot breakfast options, not to mention the granola bar section is unmatched. I leave there with a coffee, a snack, and a great attitude for under $5. I have yet to take a SPENGA session without a trip to Whole Foods afterwards
What are your favorite places around town? The American Tobacco Trail, rooftop of the Durham Hotel, Ponsysaurus Brewing , and Forest Hills Park
What song get’s you hyped? It's hard to pick, but I have to say Forever by Chris Brown. I made the DJ play it twice at my wedding because I love it that much
